NBA / WNBA: pace and shooting variance
4 min read
The stat
Fast games create more events. Shooting nights bounce around.
What it means
Pace is how many possessions a team gets. More possessions means more chances — and more room for a shooting night to look wild.
Why it matters
Three-point shooting has high variance. A team can be a good shooting team and still go cold for a night.
Watch out
Rest and back-to-backs change rotations. Last game’s explosion is not a contract for tonight.
