2 min · A handicap so both sides of a mismatch can be priced near even.
A point spread is a handicap. If Team A is −3.5, the market is saying Team A is favored by 3.5 points. For that side of the spread to “cover,” Team A would generally need to win by more than 3.5 points.
If Team A wins by 3, they won the game but did not cover −3.5. Those are different questions: who won vs who covered the number.
POWERRANK’s official picks today grade the winner of the game, not a spread cover, unless a specific product says otherwise. Do not mix those ideas up.
